Sleepers awake, English name for the chorale cantata Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme, regarded as one of most mature and popular sacred cantatas by Johann Sebastian Bach, based on the homonymous hymn by Philipp Nicolai (1599).
Sleepers awake is the fourth movement ("Zion hört die Wächter singen") of BWV 140. Bach later transcribed this movement for organ (BWV 645).
